A KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT APPROACH FOR THE INTEGRATION OF MANUFACTURING AND LOGISTICS IN GLOBAL PRODUCTION NETWORKS
Global production involves manufacturing and logistics organisations through chains/networks of relationships along different environments (e.g. business contexts). This paper addresses the integration of manufacturing and logistics in global production networks by dealing with these relationships under a knowledge management viewpoint. First, the relevance and a typology of relationships along production networks are described. Second, the specific problem of promoting collaboration between agents is explained. Finally, a knowledge management approach is proposed. The approach deals with the exchange of information that can foster the competitiveness of global production networks involving manufacturing and logistics agents.
