Longer lead-times, complex relationships and dynamic environments challenge the management of global supply chains. Along these chains, the efficiency of logistics and manufacturing systems is mutually dependent and their sustainable integration relies on a proper exchange of planning and scheduling information. This paper handles the conceptual gap for the dynamic integration of transportation planning and production scheduling by addressing relationships and collaboration along supply chains. Finally, based on proposed concepts, a heuristic integration approach is delineated.
